Mother's Day in Kensington

The one time of year when we celebrate the real everyday heroes of our lives is approaching once more. Falling on 22 March this year, Mother’s Day offers the perfect opportunity to show all the magnificent mums out there our appreciation. Whether she is into divine dining experiences, exhilarating outdoor adventures or soothing spa days, there is something for everyone in London. Here is a selection of our top tips to give her a day to remember this Mother's Day.

A creative bonding experience like no other, PopUp Painting will be hosting a ‘sip and paint’ afternoon at The Britannia in Kensington. Here, you’ll be able to treat Mum to her favourite tipple while unleashing your inner Van Gogh at the same time. All levels of experience are welcomed, and guidance will be on hand from an expert for those who would like it. Once your masterpiece has been created, it is yours to take home, ready to take pride of place above the fireplace. All art supplies are provided – including paint, brushes, canvas and apron.

Spoil her rotten with a classic spa experience. Our pick of the bunch is an ultimate urban retreat, the Cowshed Spa. With eight locations across London, the most convenient to the hotel is the Clarendon Cross venue in Notting Hill. Put your feet up and sink into one of their luxurious recliner chairs while treating yourselves to a signature manicure, pedicure or therapeutic treatment. Not content at that, the Cowshed is the perfect place for mums-to-be as well! With their specialised products and treatments designed for women who are 12 weeks pregnant or more, this is a great spot for some pre- or post-pregnancy pampering.

After something a bit different? On March 22, head over to Fitzrovia’s Percy & Flounders, who will be teaming up with local florist Orchidya to host a special Mother’s Day floristry workshop. A delightfully fun way to spend a couple of hours together, guests will be provided with expert tuition in creating a Teacup Floral Centrepiece using a selection of the best seasonal blooms. This fun and informative workshop is followed by a delicious Sunday roast and a glass of bubbles, included in the price.

For those who would prefer to keep it simple, why not take a stroll through one of London’s stunning royal parks. Convenient to the hotel, Kensington Palace Gardens offers a beautiful walk (weather permitting!) through its picturesque and leafy surroundings. Discover a variety of fascinating spots here, including the 19th-century Italian Gardens and renowned Serpentine Galleries. Finish the day with a special Mother's Day Menu at our very own W/A Restaurant.
